NAIROBI ‘CITY IN THE SUN’ SAFARI
1 DAY EXCURSION
Nairobi city ‘Green city in the Sun’ is the only city where you can have the privilege to see animals in their natural habitat. Nairobi National Park is 117km square and easily accessible after a turn from the heavy city traffic. The park hosts more than eighty species of mammals, hundreds of bird species as well as reptiles. To see in the park include; lions, giraffes, hartebeests, hyenas, buffalo, zebras, impalas, gazelles, warthogs, rhinos, pythons, hippos e.t.c
The David Sheldrick wildlife trust is home to orphaned animals (mostly elephants) that are left by their parents mostly through poaching. AFEW Giraffe centre is also another conservation organization which is run by the African Fund for Endangered Wildlife (AFEW). Its main mission has been to increase the population of the endangered Rothschild’s giraffe which are the main attraction. Nairobi National Museum is home to a rich collection of Kenyan culture, environment, history, artifacts and artistic works.
Nairobi National Park, National Museums of Kenya, Elephant Sanctuary and the Giraffe centre
08:00hrs: Leave Hotel for the National Museums of Kenya.
09:00hrs: Arrive at the Museum and snake park.
- A guided tour about the Kenyan history, culture amongst other themes and a tour to the Snake park after that.
10:00hrs: Depart for the Elephant Sanctuary.
10:30hrs: Arrive at the David Sheldrick’s Elephant sanctuary.
- Experience human hospitality on orphaned elephant calves as they are fed on milk as a history of each calf of how each of them was orphaned is told.
12:00hrs: Depart for the Giraffe Centre Karen.
12:15hrs: Arrive at the Giraffe centre.
- Chance to get in touch with the tallest mammals and feed them as well as get photos with them.
13: 00hrs: Depart for Nairobi National Park.
13:30hrs: Arrive at the National Park for Lunch (At Sebastian Restaurant or Rangers Restaurant)
14:00hrs: Game drive in the Nairobi National Park.
- To see here include rhinos, giraffe, impalas, sitatunga, buffalo, zebras, lions, hyenas, rock pythons, baboons, hartebeest e.t.c.
16:00hrs: Exit Park for hotel / home.
